My family homesteaded in this area in 1854 (The Kansas Flint Hills) and each generation has continued to live in the area. Brooks Simmental was started in 1986 with 2 black Simmental cows. I enjoy a small amount of showing and helping my granddaughter (Cassidy) show in 4-H, KJSA and the St Fair.  I  produce sound functional cattle with a good disposition. I work by myself and can’t have cattle with bad attitudes. I strive for moderate framed and easy calving cattle but not giving up growth. Carcass quality is important as producing commercial bulls is my primary goal. All of this is produced thru AI and an extensive ET program. You will see the cow, Miss Kansas K 11G throughout my pedigrees. She is the # 2 cow in the Simmental breed for the number of calves produced, currently at 195 as of Jan. 2012 and still producing.
